Serving the community

Past Projects

Muslim Youth Development Project (MYDP)

The Muslim youth development project supports Muslims aged 16 – 25 in developing leadership skills and encourages volunteering. Young people receive leadership training that develops their skills and understanding of volunteering and being a leader in their community. There is also an opportunity to complete a part time NVQ youth work qualification.

V50 Award
The V50 award is part of the MYDP project. Below are some young people from our Swindon branch that obtained it.

Girls Club

Every week at the Bobbersmill Community Centre we run a fantastic Girls Club for girls aged 9 – 15. Throughout the year girls enjoy activities such as arts and crafts, Football, Net-ball and Badminton. We believe it is important to cater for both boys and girls. A professional female youth worker coordinates these sessions.

Annual Family Camp

The family camp is organised for families to appreciate the bounties of Allah in the most serene environment. The aim is to foster the values of brotherhood/sisterhood and to inculcate confidence in young people. The camp has also been helpful in highlighting the importance of physical education and sports. The activities at the camp include: canoeing, archery, orienteering, sailing, cycling, football, cricket etc. Besides these activities daily prayers are offered in congregation, lectures, barbeques, debates and walks etc.

Notts Muslim Unity League

Notts Muslim Unity league was set up to unite young Muslims of Nottingham, whatever their background, creed or madhab is. Time has come when we all need to unite and become one ummah as commanded by our beloved Prophet. Notts Muslim Unity League uses football to bring together young Muslims from different Mosques within Nottingham. Using football as a means of engagement, Notts Muslim Unity League aims to bring Muslims together in a bid to improve relations between young Muslims from different areas of the city. Last season we had 10 teams participating and the feedback we received was positive.
