Karimia Institute

Serving the community

Community Advice & Services

Regular advice sessions for welfare, social services, employment, health, Councillors’ and Police meetings are held at our centre. And we offer;

Nikkah & Marriage Registration

Nikkah is a very special occasion for Muslims and the Karimia Institute is here to aid and support people from various Muslim backgrounds in organising this great occasion. To ease this process, the Fatimia room in the Bobbersmill Community Centre is an approved and licensed premise for marriage registrations with the Nottingham City Registrar’s Office, this allows the institute to perform both the Nikkah and registration in one place.

Who can help you when someone you care about dies?

We recommend that you say aloud;

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Arabic: إِنَّا للهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ‎) it is a part of a verse from the Quran which translates to “Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return”.

We are living in a multi-faith and plural society therefore it is imperative for Muslims to work with other faith communities. Karimia Institute works closely with a number of interfaith organisations such as ‘Faiths in Action’ and is involved in many interfaith projects with these organisations. As well as inviting Christians to visit the Masjid and taking groups to visit Churches, we organise many joint lectures and discussions on topics common between us. Nationally the Karimia Institute works with the Christian-Muslim forum to improve Christian Muslim relations. We also host seminars for faith awareness for public and voluntary sector. We publish leaflets to build bridges and improve community cohesion. Our leaflet on “Introducing Islam” (www.introducingislam.co.uk) is also used nationally for Islamic awareness projects.

“Let there be a community amongst you who invite to what is good, advocate righteousness, and forbid evil. These are the winners.” Surah Al Imran [3:104]

“Surely We have created you of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know each other; verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is the most righteous of you; surely Allah is all-Knowing, all-Aware.” Surah Al-Hujurat [49:13]

We also partner with a local inter-faith group whose Facebook page is;

They foster positive community relations between the faith communities of Nottingham.
